The Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner

Washington Hilton, Wash DC

Scale defines the design at The Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner—widely known in Washington, DC as “Space Prom.” As one of the region’s premier large-scale gala events, hosting more than 2,000 guests across government, aerospace, and academia, the event requires expert event design and production to create a cohesive experience across eight distinct environments, including the main ballroom. Each space is unified through a celestial design concept, incorporating layered lighting, dimensional installations, and subtle references to movement and orbit.

In the ballroom, the stage serves as a dramatic focal point, anchored by a custom medallion suspended against a black sequin backdrop. Cherry trees frame the stage, adding vertical scale and seasonal detail—hallmarks of thoughtful event design. Guest tables are dressed in deep, orbital-inspired linens, while centerpieces—primarily white with accents of red—offer variation and visual interest, including sculptural calla lilies designed to evoke zero gravity. Mixed metallic candle holders and chrome vessels complete the refined, immersive environment. Contact us to start a conversation about our event design services in award-winning DC event spaces.
